Pat Ramsey Benefits

It is great when so many people jump to help someone in need......please
read the message from Steve Howell, and also a note
from Jason of the Blues Band Jason Richie & New Blood ...playing in
Springfield MO this week-end.
Love, Jose

PS Show at the American Legion Friday Oct 24 5pm-2am

Hello All

Well , it's the week of the benefit for Pat Ramsey, and the phone is
ringing and my e-mail is full of last minute questions. We have ( what I
think ) is a great line up of musical talent for Fridays show. I have a
lot of friends who have helped me along the way. Jose, Micksturb, Mike
are just a few who have contacted me just about everyday and have been a
hugh help. I wish there was more time for the bands to play, but with 8
bands on the bill and a number of people coming in from out of town,
that's all the time there was without cancelling one of the bands, and
I just couldn't do that. They all wanted to play, and there were many
more left wondering why they weren't asked. I wish we had more time,
maybe we should of made this into a two day event. I'm sorry if you
feel you were left out.

"Premier Sound and Lights" & "Reel Rock Productions"

Have combined together to give the audience the "very best" of sound
quality and lights for this show. We have been very fortunate to have
known Eddie and Larry (from said companies) for a very long time, as we
have grown in this community for 30 years and they have been there with
us all of the way. Can't thank you guys enough.

This show will be recorded. Thanks guys

Pat is very excited and will be at this show. He'll try to play harp but
that will be to hard for him as he gets winded very quick. I asked him
to maybe concentrate on singing a song. I believe that will be all he
could handle is one song. I know he wants to thank everyone for all
they have done. He has been very overwhelmed (as have I ) by all of he
support and can't believe what is about to happen on Friday to help him
with his medical expenses. Especially with the times our economy is in.
The response to this has been more then great...

OK just a few more last minute details to give everyone

The guys of ACME have finally had a chance to get together and discuss
and definitely would like to make their big annual "Halloween Benefit
Bash n' Ball" a "second night" benefit for Pat too. They realize that
the actual benefit for Pat is on that Friday 10/24 with its incredible
line up and special guests - and mystery guests - galore , and they
don't want to take anything away from that.

So we are promoting the Halloween Benefit Bash - as "2 Nights 4 Pat"
at The Legion Hall, letting folks know that they're donating the
proceeds from their annual Halloween fundraiser bash for Pat's medical
expenses.
Thanks Guys ... That's Awesome

And ..... The Swinging Harpoon Band will be performing on Sat. ,
here's his e-mail to me....

Hey Steve.....I am sure you are aware that Gary ( BBC ) is have a '
black out' Friday, October 24, 2008, in respect of Pat's Benefit.

In addition to that, my band, SWINGIN HARPOON BLUES BAND, will be
performing at The BBC on October 25, 2008, and we are going to perform a
' Pat Ramsey Tribute' set.

We cover a few of his songs, and we will perform, ' Chtlin Con Carne ',
' Sting and Stang ', ' Georgia Swing ' , ' King of Fools ', and ' I Need
Money'.......

A portion of the show's money will be contributed to Pat's Benefit, post
haste.
Tell Pat Hey.........peace thru blues........

I can't thank you enough ... see ya on Friday & Sat.

The Blues: The Radio Series

http://www.yearoftheblues.org/radio/index.asp

The year 2003 was a good year for the Blues. Congress declared 2003 the Year Of The Blues and one of the things that happened was that public radio stations nationwide broadcast "The Blues," thirteen hour-long programs hosted by Grammy Award-winning bluesman Keb' Mo'. We noticed that although the Year of The Blues is long past, the website is still up and working. AND all 13 of these award winning radio programs offered as archives are still there!

This great series starts out with Episode 1: "The Birth of the Blues" (Click link to hear episode in Windows media player) This first program starts with the basics - a great explanation of what the Blues is with examples. Taj Mahal give a great explanation of how Blues came out of the African music tradition. The rest of the series follows the development and growth of the blues and explores various styles of the from the Delta, to Memphis, to Chicago and Texas. Finally the 13th episode concludes with a look into the future of the blues.

Episode 2: "Goin' Up the Country"

Episode 3: "Tain't Nobody's Business If I Do"

It is a great series filled with interviews and songs from some Blues greats and legends. It was designed to be educational and it is, but man it is some great listening! This website if full of Blues information and links too so start listening to an episode and while listening be sure to check out some of the other great information here. Enjoy, and tell them the Blues Blast sent ya!
